An Echocardiogram, also known as a transthoracic (chest) echocardiogram, Echo, is an ultrasound of the heart. It is a simple procedure that requires no experiencing and does not use radiation to produce the images. This test allows you to see real-time images of your heartbeat and blood flowing through it. This results in the ability to determine whether a sufficient amount of blood is being moved through the heart at a sufficient rate. It also reveals any defects in the actual heart muscle tissue or valves.
