As 171 confirmed instances of Covid-19 were reported by the National Institute of Health (NIH) on the previous day, Pakistan is currently seeing another spike in the disease.

During the week of June 27 to July 3, more than 4.6 million cases were reported to WHO, similar to the previous week with 8,100 fatalities.

As of July 3, more than 546 million confirmed virus cases and over 6.3 million deaths had been reported globally.

Cases are also on the rise in countries like USA UK and India.

COVID-19 Statistics In Pakistan

There's a spike in Covid-19 Cases worldwide including in Pakistan, with positivity increasing more than 4% and more than 450 cases, which could be the start of the 6th wave of Coronavirus! Scientists attribute the recent rise to two sub-variants of the Omicron variant, namely BA.4 and BA.5.

In Pakistan, from 3 January 2020 to 5:46 pm CEST, 15 July 2022, there have been 1,543,741 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 30,424 deaths, reported to WHO.

With 57 coronavirus patients currently receiving critical care, the number of active cases in various places has increased. As of yet, no fatalities have been recorded.

In comparison to Sindh, where it has been reported that the positive rate is as high as 5%, the national rate is 1.53 percent.

10.08% of cases in Karachi and 16.67% in Hyderabad were found to be Covid positive. In Islamabad, the positive rate was 2.27 percent, while in Lahore, the infection rate was 1 percent. The positive rate was reported to be 5.26% in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, 3.39% in Mardan, and 1.2% in Abbottabad.

Combating The COVID-19

In the meantime, a programme to immunise residents of Rawalpindi against Covid has been announced by the government. A 12-day fourth phase of the Reach Every Door (RED) initiative, which begins in the area today, will immunise up to 297,427 individuals of the Rawalpindi district against the coronavirus.

It should be noted that Pakistan reported the first incidence of the newest Omicron sub-variant in May of this year. The most recent wave of Covid-19 infections worldwide is caused by the new sub-variant. The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), which had been disbanded a month earlier, was subsequently reinstated by the prime minister.

Pakistan Successfully Combated Covid-19 In The Past

One of the nations that successfully combated the virus to prevent the epidemic from spreading further was Pakistan, whose reaction to the pandemic had received praise from all around the world.

Pakistan was included as one of the nations that had done rather well in the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic in a study released earlier in March by the United Nations Development Programme.
