Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon organized the 3rd Commissioner Karachi City Marathon and requested the citizens to participate in the event that took place on 13th February, 2022 at 7 am.

 

Marathon served as a way to bring the citizens of Karachi together, the leadership of Murad Ali Shah aimed to hold regular marathon events to promote sports in the city so that people could relax and compete together to bring a long-lasting peace. 

It was the initiative of the Chief Minister who directed the city administration to initiate the city marathon three years ago. Camps were put up along the track of the marathon to facilitate the participants and provide water, first aid, food and shuttle services.

 

Separate contests were organized for individuals below the age of 19 years, those between 19 years and 29 years of age, and people aged above 29 years. Both men and women participated in the marathon, the commissioner said, adding that separate contests were also organized for the aged and differently-abled persons.

 

The male participants were required to cover 10 kilometres while the female participants were required to cover 6 kilometres. The race began at Moin Khan Academy and the track passed through Khayaban-e-Tipu, crossed Abdul Sattar Edhi Avenue, stretched to Khayaban-e-Ittehad and led back to the academy.


Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre was delighted to participate in the Marathon, a great number of people joined in to run the miles, and took part in this fruitful activity. This marathon offered many opportunities to do good for others while giving runners a monumental goal to strive for, pushing all to go beyond expectations.
